A battle has erupted in a number of states between Republican lawmakers and domestically elected Democrats over how to reply to crime.
Democratic district attorneys (usually serving cities with many Black and Latino voters) say they’re prioritizing critical crimes. In response, Republicans (usually representing largely white and rural areas) have accused them of ignoring legal legislation and are making it simpler to take away them from workplace.
