George Santos is charged with fraud
Consultant George Santos, the New York Republican who campaigned on a life story plagued by lies, has been charged by federal prosecutors with 13 counts together with cash laundering, stealing public cash, wire fraud and making false statements to Congress.
Santos pleaded not responsible and was launched on a $500,000 bond. He faces as much as 20 years in jail if convicted.
